We offer several exciting graduation projects for civil engineering master students this year.
We are Wagemaker, a technically-specialised advice and engineerings agency for civil structures, such as bridges, fly-overs, flood-protection and water-management structures and their environment. We engineer complex projects and sustainable solutions that make our living environment better, safer and more accessible. Among our customers are the government (both national and local) and (large) contractors. Our office is located in Rosmalen (close to ’s-Hertogenbosch).
The graduation projects
- Assessment of the structural properties of reused beams in bridges (both for steel and concrete structures) Rijkswaterstaat and the Dutch government strive for a circular economy in 2050. From 2023 onwards, the principles of circularity form the basis for the choices we make in every Wagemaker project. The reuse of beams in structures helps us to achieve these goals. But how can we predict or estimate the changes of the material’s structural properties after decades of use in an existing structure or its (partly) dismantlement? Think for example about crack patterns or load history (in relation to fatigue). What remaining service life can be obtained? And what does EC (Eurocode) require regarding reused beams?
Do you have another graduation topic in mind? Please let us know. We would like to hear your ideas and look for a win-win situation.
Wat can you expect from us?
You’ll receive a warm welcome to our office. You’ll be part of a team of dedicated colleagues. Our 80 colleagues create an exciting and motivating working environment together, that will make you feel very quickly at home. Our flat organisation structure ensures a practical, informal atmosphere. You get a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, with plenty of room to implement your knowledge and ambition in a relevant and interesting research question. It goes without saying that one (or several) of our experienced civil engineers will intensively support you.
Collaboration, job satisfaction and commitment characterize our approach. We’re in close contact, whether we work from home or in the office. We also pay attention to our environment. Fun2Care is our own non-profit foundation where colleagues participate with Fun on charity projects (Care).
Who are you?
You are a Civil Engineering master’s student who’s looking for an interesting graduation project in a nice company, a bike ride away from Den Bosch’s central station. As a person you’re meticulous, proactive, eager to learn and result-driven and you have a great sense of responsibility. You like to work together, but you can take satisfaction in working independently at the same time. You have both good communication and analytical skills.
